Monday January 22, 2018

The Federal Authority for Government Human Resources (FAHR) has launched its Humanitarian Response Plan for the Year of Zayed, which includes 30 community -based initiatives and events to be implemented this year in response to declaration of His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan for 2018 as Year of Zayed, and celebrated as a national occasion for the UAE.

In this context, HE Dr. Abdulrahman Al-Awar stressed that the launch of Zayed Year initiative reflects sincere loyalty to our wise leadership and appreciation to the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, may God rest his soul in peace, who dedicated his life to serving his country and his people. “Sheikh Zayed, did not only achieve development and prosperity for its homeland, but was also known for providing support and assistance to those in need throughout the world”, he said.

HE added: “The Year of Zayed is great national occasion to celebrate and highlight his values, pioneering role and achievements, locally, regionally and globally. It is an ideal opportunity to draw lessons from the rich life experiences of the late Sheikh Zayed, as well as the great challenges he could overcome with wisdom and determination.

“The Authority has developed an integrated plan for the implementation of 30 community initiatives and events during the Year of Zayed.  These include providing free training for employees in ministries and federal entities under "Ma’aref" initiative for the Federal Government’s preferred training partners. Year of Zayed will also witness offering special discounts for Federal Government employees under Imtyazat Program, activating volunteering campaign in coordination with government and private institutions, and launching Charitable Giving campaign, which comprises a series of voluntary and charitable initiatives, such as: ‘Winter Warmth’, ‘Sanadhom Amanah’ and ‘Contribute to their Education’ “.

He said that the Authority intends to educate the Federal Government employees on the achievements of Sheikh Zayed and his values and legacies, by sending periodic emails through the Federal Government’s HR Management Information System (BAYANATI). He poined out that the Authority will conduct Quranic campaigns on Sheikh Zayed for some groups during the "Month of Reading", and field visits to the Authority staff to certain sites in UAE that carry the legacy of Sheikh Zayed.

He said: “The Authority will also launch on Zayed Day for Humanitarian Action, which falls on the 19th of Ramadan, a charitable initiative in which the Federal Government employees will choose a poor country to establish a "Masjid" project in the name of Sheikh Zayed, in cooperation with a charity operating in the State. Umrah Zayed for Workers and Iftar Sayem initiatives will be launched during the month of Ramadan.”

40 Community Initiative and Events in "Year of Giving"

For his part, Mr. Mahmoud Al Marzouqi, Director of Government Communications, FAHR, said that the Authority surveyed the views of the employees of the ministries and federal authorities on the humanitarian and community initiatives they wish the Authority to implement during the year 2018 through an electronic questionnaire circulated to them recently through BAYANATI System. The step, he noted, reflected the Authority's keenness to involve the Federal Government employees in proposing and implementing humanitarian and community initiatives, and instil the values of giving and volunteerism in them.

He pointed out that the Authority intensified efforts last year in the implementation of major social responsibility initiatives and was able to implement 40 community initiatives and events, involving tens of thousands of employees of ministries and federal bodies and members of the community. The outcome was collecting more than 600 thousand dirhams through bank accounts of partner charities, to fund the charitable and humanitarian activities of those charities.
