The 6th HR Club Forum discusses the Changing Role of HR in an Artificial Intelligence World

The Federal Authority for Government Human Resources (FAHR) recently held, in cooperation with the Human Resources Department of the Government of Dubai, the 6th Human Resources Club Forum 2018, entitled "Human Development ... Do We Really Know What to Come Next". The event was attended by HE Dr. Abdulrahman Abdul Mannan Al Awar, Director General of FAHR, HE Abdullah bin Ali bin Zayed Al Falasi, Director General of Human Resources Department of the Government of Dubai, and more than 200 members of HR Club, including employees from federal and local government and private sector.

The forum hosted Hussain Sheikh, Head of Oracle Human Capital Management Strategy for Eastern and Central Europe, Middle East and Africa.

Dr Abdulrahman Al Awar: HR Club is an effective platform for the exchange of knowledge about human capital

In a statement on the side-lines of the forum, HE Dr. Abdulrahman Al Awar, Director General of the Authority, said that the meeting was held in the Emirate of Dubai in implementation of the initiatives launched at the first round of the UAE Government Meeting held last year in Abu Dhabi. It was decided in that meeting to expand the activities of HR Club to cover all the emirates of the State, so as to maximize the benefit to HR professionals and those who are concerned with the human capital development.

He stressed that the Authority has since the beginning of this year held six HR Club forums in different emirates of the UAE, in coordination with the local human resources departments in the country, stressing that the experience of expanding the Club's meetings was successful by all standards, citing the great interaction, the quality of speakers from prestigious  international organizations, and topics that focused on everything that is new and innovative in the world of human resources.

Dr. Abdulrahman Al-Awar praised the efforts exerted by the Human Resources Department of the Government of Dubai to empower the emirate's human capital. He pointed out that the Government of Dubai, thanks to the guidance and follow-up of HH Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, has been adopting successful legislation, practices and experience in various fields, especially in the field of human capital development, which is clearly demonstrated by the efficiency of its government institutions and by its position as a global leader in the quality and excellence of services provided to customers.

Regarding Human Resources Club, he said that it represents an important platform for cooperation among all concerned with human capital development and provides an opportunity to discuss topics related to the most important challenges facing institutions, authorities and governments regarding this issue and review the solutions to address such challenges, keeping up with the changes in this area.

Abdullah Falasi: "We need adequately qualified and skilled human resources to keep up with the technological revolution"

HE Abdullah Ali Bin Zayed Al Falasi, Director General of the Human Resources Department of the Government of Dubai, stressed the importance of cooperation between the Federal Authority and the Human Resources Department, Dubai in various fields that serve the human resources sector and work to prepare human resources according to global standards in coping with future jobs in the wake of the Fourth Industrial Revolution. He said that holding this HR Club forum comes as one of the fruits of this cooperation.

He called on human resources officials in the UAE to take care of the human element, in line with the directives of the wise leadership, the need for shaping a bright future, and in preparation for the Fourth Industrial Revolution. “There is also an urgent need for creating a positive and flexible working environment so as to take advantage of artificial intelligence techniques and train human resources to deal with technology efficiently”, he noted.

HE Al Falasi added: "The Fourth Industrial Revolution offers great opportunities; it requires outstanding human resources and new competencies, as well as a greater and more intensive focus on human capital development, in addition to a sophisticated and flexible education system that simulates scientific and technological development. It requires preparation for the future, providing guidance to student to choose the appropriate subjects that is in line with the Fourth Industrial Revolution, creates modern jobs and provides skills that keep up with the latest developments in artificial intelligence."

Artificial Intelligence contributed $ 15.7 trillion to global economy in 2030

The Forum guest of honour, Sheikh Hussein, head of Oracle's Human Capital Management Strategy for Eastern and Central Europe, Middle East and Africa, highlighted important questions about how human resources departments are coping with rapid technological changes, the extent of awareness of the meaning of artificial intelligence, the impact of its use on the workforce and the secrets of automated HR director.

Sheikh talked about the latest technologies that have transformed human life and have greatly affected the nature of our living. These include: artificial intelligence, cloud computing, Internet of things, big data, Qin Block, 3D printing, robotics, and self-driving cars.

He stressed that the potential contribution of artificial intelligence technologies in the global economy will reach nearly $ 15.7 trillion by 2030, and it will achieve by the same year, an expected increase in the size of the global economy up to $ 13 trillion. He noted that artificial intelligence will affect the workforce all over the world.

He added: “Jobs will change because of artificial intelligence; some jobs will disappear, and other jobs will emerge. In contrast, it is certain that artificial intelligence will help improve productivity and save time for many jobs. HR departments have to take the lead in understanding the impact of artificial intelligence on the workforce and planning for the future.

“The Internet of things is the network of devices, vehicles, and home appliances that contain electronicssoftwareactuators, and connectivity which allows these things to connect, interact and exchange data. It worth noticing that the global Internet of Things spending will reach about $ 11 trillion by 2020.

"The Qin Block will become one of the most influential technologies in the global business sector, with 10% of the world's gross domestic product being stored through Qin Block technology by 2027. It will contribute $ 176 billion to the business market in 2025”.

Human resource Club

The Human Resources Club launched in 2010 is one of the most important strategic initiatives of the Authority. It is an interactive platform and an intellectual and knowledge communication channel that brings together interested people, human resources specialists and experts under one roof to share ideas, experiences and solutions that could enhance the roles assigned to human resources departments and other institutional service bodies across different sectors in the country.

The HR Club offers its membership, which has grown to over 12 thousand, an ideal opportunity to learn about the best practices, experiences and success stories of many individuals and institutions, as well as meeting with specialists and practitioners in the field of institutional work.

The Authority is seeking to develop the Club and improve its vision and mission by working hard to expand to expand the base of its beneficiaries beyond human resource professionals, to include support services sectors, and all employees working for these sectors, such as personnel, finance, IT, procurement, etc

The Authority has announced the launch of the new strategy for the Human Resources Club and the restructuring of the Club's advisory board, given the remarkable success of the Club during the past years. The Club held 46 forums which were attended by more than 7,700 human
