Over the past year, the Federal Authority for Government Human Resources (FAHR) has launched 10 internal and external initiatives and activities aimed at documenting and disseminating knowledge among its employees and those of ministries and federal entities, as well as promoting the knowledge management culture at the Federal Government level.
In this regard, Klaitham Al Shamsi, Director of Strategy and Future Dept., said: "During 2017, the Authority achieved remarkable results in terms of documenting and spreading knowledge and enhancing the concept of knowledge management. It launched the Guide to Knowledge Management in the Federal Government, which seeks to raise awareness of the importance of managing knowledge assets in ministries and federal entities and to familiarizing employees with the concept of types, benefits, and importance of knowledge in increasing efficiency, productivity, and innovation of organizations.
“The Guide highlights the types of knowledge, its development stages, and its internal and external sources, as well as the many benefits for those entities that adopt the concept of knowledge management. The Guide also presents the components of knowledge management strategy, along with the challenges that may be faced by entities in the knowledge management process, with tools and methods that will contribute to production, acquisition, preservation and dissemination of knowledge.”
Al Shamsi then turned to the Authority’s most important knowledge initiatives during the past year, including signing a memorandum of understanding with National Geographic Magazine under "Imtyazat" Program to provide 50% discount to all Federal Government employees on subscription prices, in addition to providing monthly issues of the reputed Magazine for FAHR employees. A special HR Club forum was also held under the slogan “Pleasures and Benefits of Reading”, and was attended by dozens of HR experts professionals. Finally, a delegation from the Authority accompanied by UAE writer Dr. Fatima Al Mazrouei, visited the Family Village, one of the projects of the Awqaf and Minors Affairs Foundation in Dubai.
For his part, Ali Ahli, Director of HR and Services Department at the Authority, spoke about the opening of the Authority’s new library in 2017, which includes a variety of books and magazines in various scientific, cultural and literary disciplines, in conjunction with and to support the National Reading Month celebrated in March every year. He stressed the keenness of the Authority to highlight the importance of reading in the development of employees’ skills and enhancing their productivity through increasing their job satisfaction, knowledge, as well as inspiring them to generate new ideas in the work environment.
